Black Friday brings shoppers to the big box stores, but one group is hoping other businesses won't be forgotten.

The City Center Partnership, a downtown business association, is kicking off an effort to promote small businesses.

Chair of the Marking and Promotions Committee for the partnership Theresa Carlberg says, it's important to remember the downtown small businesses throughout the holiday season.

"We want to support the vitalization of our community; maintain our historic downtown. It's important that we support the businesses that are doing business down here and that believe in that," Theresa Carlberg said.

The City Center Partnership is raising awareness with a storefront window display contest in Old Town.
