New Ulm's inaugural Christkindlmarkt celebration ran into some headaches early this morning.

Winds took down the tents set up downtown, forcing most of the festivities into the nearby American Legion.

Organizer Mary Jane Glawe says, "Our tents went down early this morning. We worked very hard yesterday, lots of softener salt and bags to hold everything down, but it did go down. Tent is down, but not our spirit."

Several artists set up inside selling their wares until eight o'clock tonight.

The festival also featured baby reindeer, horse carriage rides, puppet shows and a live nativity set up in the Marketplatz mall for a seven o'clock showing.
