Instead of opening at midnight with door busters, Nicollet Bike owner Justin Rinehart waited patiently for "Small Business Saturday." Rinehart says, "Today has been a lot better than Black Friday was for overall turnout."
The day after Black Friday reminds customers of how their local purchases affect their community. Encore In Old Town Kim Stanton Cummings says, "Our small businesses are the core of what's happening in Mankato and so we can survive and keep growing and thriving as a small town."
It may be Mankato's City Center Partnerships' first year promoting Small Business Saturday, but Stanton Cummings says it's already making an impact. Stanton Cummings says, "We have had lots of people in today that have said they especially comE out for small business Saturday."
Customers say they support small businesses because they provide a better quality experience before and after their purchase." Joel Erickson says, "They go the extra mile to take care of you. They're very good people down here. And whenever you need anything they're always there to help you out."
Rinehart says, "Service after the sale is a big part of small businesses and creating that relationship with customers and retailers is important and to create a sense of community in which we live."
And while big businesses open early with deals and discounts a few days a year... store managers say they're here and ready for your business all year round.
