Fire causes 50-thousand-dollars in damage to a Mankato home last night as authorities continue to investigate the cause. Mankato Department of Public Safety reports the blaze broke out just before 5:30 last evening at Swiss Street and Sylvan Way. One person was home, but managed to evacuate safely... The initial concern was for the nearby homes...but fire crews were able to contain the blaze before it spread further. Scott LeBrun, says, "Their quick response was able to save the house. So, anywhere from five to ten minutes more....We tell everybody fires almost double in size every minute." Officials say keeping the fire from reaching the attic was the key.
