The Mankato Area Hockey Association says two sheets of ice are not enough for the city. They are asking the county and city to help fund a new rink at Caswell Park. MAHA says they could pay a third of the estimated three million dollars needed for the new rink. The association's expansion and growth chair Marcus Peterson says the hockey players often have to drive outside the city to find rinks to practice on, sometimes driving out to New Ulm. Peterson says, "We're growing more than we've ever grown in the past we're seeing as lot of numbers young numbers coming in and with the facilities we have here in town right now we're just running out of ice."
Peterson pitches the new rink during a Blue Earth County board meeting Tuesday morning at 9.
