MANKATO, Minn. -

The Flandrau State Park in New Ulm may be expanding.

This after a landowner approached the park about a small parcel of land, just under and acre, they are looking to sell.

The heavily wooded parcel is on a steep hillside not to far from the electric campground.

Gary Teipel with Flandrau State Park says, "This parcel would be a great buffer zone, if it was developed into a housing area it would be a poor location and it would not be good use of the area, it makes more sense to be a wooded hillside and in the state park."

The park is currently giving the public notice about the expansion and will have to wait until legislators pass the DNR boundary bill in the upcoming session before they are eligible to bid on the land.
