Mankato -
A Blue Earth County woman and her two children on the run from authorities has turned herself in.
We brought you the story of Reina Gandarilla last week. The 21 year old woman was wanted on a felony warrant for depriving Another of Custodial rights. Authorities say Gandarilla left her foster home in rural Pemberton last Tuesday; telling her foster parents that she was taking the two children Isiaah, 2, and Ayanna, 4 months - to the doctor. However, she never returned.
Blue Earth County Sheriff's Detective Jerry Billiar tells News 12 that Gandarilla had been staying at a Mankato hotel. She apparently contacted what he calls a "third party" and that's when authorities made contact with her just before 2:00 Monday afternoon. The children have been taken to a foster home and are unharmed.
Capt. Rich Murry of the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office tells News 12 they had followed up on leads from the Chicago area as well as Indiana. He says they still believe Gandarilla had help in leaving her rural Pemberton foster home.
Gandarilla's arrest means that a court date is pending on felony charges. She is facing possible charges of Depriving Another of Custodial or Parental Rights. It carries a maximum sentence of 2 years and a $4,000 fine.
