SYRIA -
The U.S. is closely monitoring the Syrian army. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says intelligence reports show the Syrian military could be preparing chemical weapons to use against its own people. While the U.S. has been reluctant to use military force to depose President Bashar Assad it is still trying to find a diplomatic solution to the fighting. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with her Russian counterpart Thursday to discuss the issue. Russia is one of Syria's strongest allies.
