Brown County, Minn. -
Dog lover Alissa Coners is in luck. Because starting Monday almost all the dogs at New Ulm's Humane Society will be half off for the holidays. Brown County Humane Society director Gerald Woodley says, "We had a dog that came in and had puppies in our facility."
Woodley says these seven sweet pups put the pet shelter at capacity. Woodley says, "We don't want people at the spur of the moment to say oh a dog would be a great Christmas present."
He says, the interview process is more intense around the holidays to make sure people know and understand the responsibilities behind owning a dog. Woodley says, "They have to make sure that they're ready to add a new family member."
Volunteer Kathryn Willing says, "We have to be there for them because they are here for us." Coners says, "She'll giver you little kisses when you want kisses."
One-year-old Mercedes may be half priced pup. But Coners says the memories they'll have together will be priceless.
