Despite the tough economic times, Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota was able to grant them their wish.
The Chavez de Winder family has been waiting for two years and now they can finally call this house their home, just in time for the holidays.
New Homeowner, Gloria Chavez de Widner says, "It's a blessing, it's a dream come true for me and my family. I'm so excited."
Gloria, the homeowner, spent over 200 hours of her own time to help build the home.
She says she's grateful for all the volunteers and members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for completing the construction on her new home.
Volunteers of Habitat for Humanity broke ground back in April.
Executive Director Julie Schmillen says, "They are moving in over the weekend so this is their Christmas present, two years in the making. So it's a very exciting time."
Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota has a total of 101 homes with 53 of them being built in Mankato.
David Widner says, "All I can say is you have our family's respect and graduate from making my mom's dreams come true."
The family will no longer have to bounce around and live in one apartment to the next.
They can start building memories in a place that's permanent.
