NORAD Continues Tradition of Tracking Santa's Christmas Journey

Posted: Updated:

For more than half a century, kids around the world have turned to NORAD to pinpoint Santa's location on Christmas Eve.

At around 6:30 p.m., the jolly old elf had just left the Azores off Portugal, headed for Rio de Janeiro.

NORAD began tracking Santa in 1955 when a newspaper ad listed the wrong phone number for kids to call Santa.

They wound up calling  NORAD's predecessor, and personnel played along.

If you and your kids would like to track Santa's progress just head to KEYC's featured links.

Just remember, Santa won't come down the chimney until the kids are asleep.
