BENCHS employee Abby Michel says holiday pet adoptions are discouraged because people will often buy them on a whim and not fully appreciate the responsibility needed to take care of a pet. Michel says a lot of consideration needs to be taken when adopting a pet including home size, other pets, and how much time you have to take care of the animal. She says when you purchase a pet you are getting a new family member that needs and deserves lots of love and attention.
