The annual re–enactment of Washington's daring Christmas 1776 crossing of the Delaware River was held Christmas Day.

I's the 60th time the event has been held.

During the original crossing 233 years ago, boats ferried some 24–hundred soldiers, two–hundred horses and 18 cannons across the river.

The troops marched eight miles downriver and fell on Hessian mercenaries in the streets of Trenton.

The victory electrified the struggling nation and led to further military successes in Trenton and Princeton.
