A good start to the year already for one local team, as the MSU women's hockey team opened 2013 by closing out their non-conference schedule with a 6-1 victory over Lindenwood down in Saint Charles Missouri.
Nicole Germaine and Lauren Smith each tallied two goals for the Mavericks.
