Cedar Rapids, IA -

A Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has become the state's first church to begin marrying same sex couples.

The First Baptist Church of Cedar Rapids has about 50 members.  Church Pastor Dorothy Whiston says the reason behind the change is that everyone is equal in God's eyes.

Whiston said, "It's always wrong to exclude a group of people from any opportunity, and that would include marriage as well."

The pastor says allowing gays to get married in the church is the next logical step in the number of services they already provide to the LGBT community.

The church already hosts weekly LGBT Alcohol Anonymous meetings, counseling, and workshops.
