MANKATO, MN -
The holidays are over for many of us clean up continues and some are wondering what to do with the Christmas tree. For residents of the city of Mankato there are a few options. Each Monday through Friday from 8 to 4, trees may be dropped off at Highland, Tourtellote and Sibley Parks or drop them by the SMC Compost Site on Third Avenue. That tree recycling period ends on January 11. There are a couple of things to keep in mind: first, remove all wire, metal ornaments and tree stands. And If you plan to wrap your tree in plastic to transport it, make sure you take the plastic home with you and do not leave it at the recycling site.
