One man is dead following a snowmobile crash late last nightin Eastern Iowa.

The LinnCounty Sheriff's Department says the man was operating the snowmobile east ofthe Cedar Rapids when he hit a field fence. Investigators say the man wasthrown from the snowmobile and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officialsare not yet releasing the man's name pending notification of his family.

Investigatorssay a second snowmobile traveling alongside the victim's also hit the fence,injuring a 20-year-old man from Central City.
