Flu is hitting the area, and hitting it hard.  That's forcing public health officials to take action.

The South Central Part of the state is being described as the epicenter of the flu outbreak this year, and presently has the highest rate of flu cases in the state.

This has prompted hospitals in the region to announce today they are adopting uniform visitor restrictions at all facilities in the 11 area counties. For otherwise healthy people who have the flu, doctors are asking you to stay home, too.

Many hospitals, emergency rooms and public health agencies are reporting more flu cases this year than at the height of the 2009 H1N1 flu outbreak.
