MANKATO , MINN. -

The fourth annual Mankato Marathon may be many months away, but organizers say runners are already showing excitement for this fall's race. The marathon had a goal of getting around 400 registrations by January 10th. So far they have 920 runners registered. Greater Mankato Visitors Bureau President Anna Thill says, "It's outstanding, usually its late march by the time we get to these kinds of numbers."

Thill says the runners were offered a significant discount of more than half off for registering early. Thill says that paired with people's New Year's resolutions motivated many runners to register early.
