
The Maple River boys' basketball team is finally getting some respect.
The Eagles won the Pepsi Holiday Tournament for the 2nd straight year and now they landed in the class 2-A poll at number ten.
Maple River was in Madelia this evening looking to stay alone atop the Valley Conference.
The Eagles got off to a hot start, leading 29-2, before the Blackhawks went on a 13-8 run to close the gap a bit. Maple River would not let up though, as they go on to win big 72-32.
Martin County West hosted Mankato Loyola in Sherburn, in a battle for 2nd place in the Valley. The Mavericks defense held the Crusaders in check as MCW goes on to win 58-38.
Cleveland hosted Saint Clair as well on Friday night, and this one was a little closer, but the Cyclones beat the Clippers in the end 72-63.
