A man is dead and his teenage son was injured after falling through ice.

The incident happened in Sabula, which is Southeast of Dubuque.

Officials say 65-year-old Ronald Kerkhoff of Illinois, and his 18-year-old son Jacob had been ice fishing when they fell through.

Rescue crews pulled the men from the lake and took them to a hospital, where Ronald died.

Jacob was treated for his injuries and released.
