MANKATO , MINN. -
Local dentists will be giving their time to children in need this February.
February 1 and 2 are the dates for this year's Give Kids A Smile program. This will be the 13th year of the program where dentists and dental team professionals give their time to provide children in need with free dental care.
Experts say early dental hygiene is very important for children. Angela Schuck with North Mankato Family Dentistry says one quarter of children hold 80 percent of all cases of tooth decay in the country. "I just think this is just really important, although we can donate money to various charities, really the only people who can help with dental needs are dental professionals," says Schuck.
Sign up is almost full, but many places including North Mankato Family Dentistry will accept walk ins.
