MANKATO, Minn -

The flu season continues to keep health professionals busy, and area schools are no exception.

At Mankato East, school officials say custodians have been paying extra attention to classroom surfaces, including desks.

Doorknobs and other hands-on equipment are also getting a more thorough cleaning. The school nurse for Mankato East says she's been staying busy this flu season dealing with symptoms students come down with.

"Up at a East it's been crazy, we've had more than our share of kids coming in with coughs and runny noses and colds," said Kim Peterson, a school nurse with Mankato area Public Schools.

Although this season is significant, school officials say the H1N1 Flu Season was much worse.
