MANKATO, Minn. -

The state's influenza death toll is now up to 60 this season. And while the flu is keeping many home from work or school, it's also preventing a lot of people from donating blood.

The Red Cross in Mankato says they have had many people cancel appointments because they weren't feeling well.

Officials say if you are sick it is best to stay home, but 24–hours after you are feeling better you can come in and donate.

Bob Meyer with the American Red Cross said, "We sure would like to see you if your not exhibiting any symptoms at all and you're feeling well by all means, please come in and donate blood."

There is no waiting period to donate blood after receiving a flu vaccine, as long as you are feeling healthy and well the day of donation.
