With more than 1,500 attendees the Craft Beer Expo drew in barrels of beer lovers to the Mankato area, bringing big business to area hotels. Last night the city center hotel was close to capacity with only a couple rooms available. Employees say the crowd was a little rowdy last night, but nothing got too out of control. Hotel general manager Mattie Eggimann says January is a pretty busy month for the hotel. Eggimann says, "Several events going on in January that cause the hotel to be full. Something's we have in house here and something's we have over at the Verizon center so January is a pretty busy month."
She anticipates the hotels next busy weekend will be during the Verizon Wireless's Ag Expo at the end of January.
