Thin ice poses a problem on Lake Hanska Friday evening just before midnight.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office reporting that's when a teenage boy from Lafayette drove his car on an area of the lake marked with signs warning of the thin ice caused by an aeration system.

Despite his car going into the water, the driver--the only one in the car--was able to walk to a nearby fish house for assistance.

People in that fish house administered first aid and called 911. He was taken to the New Ulm Medical Center, checked and released with no apparent injuries.
