NORTH AFRICA -

The New York Times is reporting that the Pentagon is considering a plan to create a new base in North Africa for spy drones. The move is in response to the fight against terrorists fighting in Africa including Mali where French forces are currently battling al Qaida. Right now, the U.S. has a limited presence in Africa with only one permanent base. If approved, the new base could host as many as 300 American soldiers and private contractors.
