NICOLLET COUNTY, Minn. -

State House District 19–A holds its primary for the special election Tuesday.

Voters had the opportunity to cast their ballot to choose who will compete in the election for the spot vacated by Terry Morrow.

Turnout was particularly low for the primary.  "Hopefully later on this afternoon things will pick up, but as of now, the voter turnout is very, very small" says Bridgette Kennedy, Nicollet County Auditor and Treasurer.

Polls close at 8 tonight.

Independent Tim Gieseke and GOP Allen Quist run unopposed.  The DFL has endorsed MSU professor Clark Johnson.  Robin Courrier, Timothy Strand, and Karl Johnson are also on the ballot for the DFL.

The special election will be held February 12.
