MANKATO , MINN. -
The South Central Minnesota chapter of the American Red Cross received a much welcomed gift today. The Otto Bremer Foundation awarded a grant worth $76,000 to the American Red Cross today.
The Red Cross needs donations like this to help in disaster situations.
"We'll be using the grant for a number of purposes, but all disaster related. Everything from buying and supplying disaster response trailers, cots, blankets, and other response items, to training volunteers and staff in disaster services" says Bob Meyer of the American Red Cross.
The South Central Minnesota chapter serves the communities of Mankato, Owatonna, Redwood Falls, Marshall, and the surrounding areas.
The American Red Cross grant was one of 75 awarded by the Bremer Foundation, totaling 3.9 million dollars.
