The push for Hwy 14 project funding to make improvement from Rochesterto New Ulm continues. The first two pieces of Highway 14 legislation wereintroduced this week.

One appropriates funds for the completion of the four–laneexpansion of Highway 14, another directs MnDOT to place Highway 14 in the20–year State Highway Investment Plan.

The U.S. Hwy 14 Partnership has also sent a letter to thegovernor reminding him of the need to keep the project moving forward.

North Mankato Mark Dehen said, "We're trying to keep allthose pieces moving and get everything going on in a cohesive fashion so thatthere is no dollars wasted and as we move forward that we can make the best useof the dollars that we have. Realizing that its and expensive project and we don'thave the dollars to waste."

Sen. Vicki Jensen of Owatonna and Rep. Kathy Brynaert ofMankato. Are the chief authors of both bills introduced this week.

Additional bills will likely be introduced once thelegislature begins discussing its transportation budget.
