MANKATO , MINN. -

Even though the Vikings or the Pack aren't playing, the Super Bowl is still expected to draw a large crowd to Mankato area bars.

Cops are ramping up enforcement for this weekend's N-L showdown in an effort to keep roadways safe.

During the last five Super Bowl Sundays in Minnesota, 1,101 motorists have been arrested for DWI.

Authorities are reminding bar-goers to plan ahead for a sober ride home.

"(The) Minnesota State Patrol and all our allied agencies want to encourage all Minnesotans to use 911 if you see an impaired driver out this weekend," said Sgt. Jacalyn Sticha of the Minnesota State Patrol. "We need to get to them, and we need to get them off the road."

The last alcohol-related traffic death on Super Bowl Sunday in Minnesota occurred back in 2008.
