The Mankato Moondogs are still 113 days away from their season opener, but tonight fans of the ball club gathered at Tav on the Ave to welcome the team's new owner.
Stillwater businessman Mark Ogren (Oh-grin) was introduced as the new owner in front of a packed house of Moondogs fans.
Ogren says he bought the team because he is a huge sports fan.
He says he is already learning there is more to running the team than he thought, but he is already looking for ways to improve an already solid franchise.
Ogren can't wait for the season to start so he can interact with the fans and players, and said that the team will stay put in Mankato as long as he is the owner.
After 11 seasons as the owner of the team, Joe Schwei sold Ogren the franchise on December 21st.
Schwei says it was a tough move, but he feels the right person is taking over the team he has made successful over the last decade.
Ogren says he will keep Schwei on as a consultant.
The Moondogs open the season at home May 29th.
