JAPAN -
Hundreds of Japanese men and women went into a frenzy on Sunday, as they threw over a ton of soybeans in a festival that follows age-old traditions.
The practice is normally held in a shrine where only a handful of roasted soybeans per person are used in a less dynamic way.
The event took place in the landmark Tokyo Tower.
Each of the 800 participants was given goggles and two kilograms of beans.
They threw the objects hard to the imaginary demons during the two-hour event.
It is a spring ritual held on the eve of the spring equinox, and symbolizes fending off evil.
