    Just after 4:00 p.m. a woman was hit by a pickup truck. Officials say her condition at the hospital is unknown at this time.

The countdown is on for three candidates vying to fill the vacant legislative seat in district 19A left open by DFLer Terry Morrow. District 19A, includes St. Peter, North Mankato and surrounding communities. Tonight's candidate forum comes one week before the February 12 Special election.

The ballot will include, Minnesota State University professor Clark Johnson for the DFL; former state Rep. Allen Quist for the GOP, and the Independence Party's Tim Gieseke.
Each had two minutes to read a prepared statement before the debate began.

The public was able to submit issues related questions for the forum until January 30th.
There was also an opportunity to submit questions in writing at the forum. One of the issues they faced with tonight how best to balance Minnesota's budget and whether taxes or spending cuts were the way to go.

Greater Mankato Growth who co-sponsored the event along with The St. Peter Chamber of Commerce and the St. Peter League of Women Voters, will invite the candidates to complete an online questionnaire.

The special election will include the same polling locations and time as the November election.
