MANKATO, MN -
The Greater Mankato Area United Way announces a milestone. Rich Grace, Volunteer Campaign Chair for 2013, says they will make their goal of two–million dollars! Grace said most of the money comes from nearly eight–thousand individual gifts. He added this years' total is a two percent increase over last years' giving. Open Door Health Center, CEO, Sarah Kruse, said, "This increase is very important to people in The Greater Mankato area who rely on our sliding–fee discount program to have affordable care. So this increase will help us to expand the number of people that we can help." According to Greater Mankato United Way President, Laura Bowman, one in three people in our area are directly served by at least one of the more than sixty United Way funded programs.
