NEW ULM, Minn. -
Brown County is doing its part to combat domestic violence in the area and find ways to better help victims.
A domestic abuse response team was established back in October as an effort to work together with different agencies across Brown County. The team consists of law enforcement, probation staff, social workers, the attorney's office, victim advocates and others who work with domestic violence issues.
Brown County Probation Agent Randy Baker said, "Working together as a community we can enhance victim safety, hold offenders accountable, and ultimately change the clime of tolerance towards domestic violence in our community."
There were 18 deaths related to domestic violence in Minnesota in 2012. That is the lowest number since 1992, but the teams said any death is too many, and they will continue to work to lower that number.
