ST. PETER, MINN. -

The DFL will keep the seat vacated by Terry Morrow earlier this year.

With all 38 precincts reporting in, Clark Johnson won 2680 votes, or just under 54 percent of the vote.

Republican Allen Quist garnered 1801 votes, or 36 percent of the vote, while Independence Party candidate Tim Gieseke won 511 votes, or 10 percent.

19A includes St. Peter, North Mankato and surrounding communities.

It was one of two Minnesota House districts holding special elections to replace lawmakers who resigned after the last election.

The St. Cloud seat was vacated by Republican Steve Gottwalt.

Republican Tama Theis kept the seat in GOP hands with 54 percent; Democrat Joanne Dorsher had 42 percent and Todd McKee of the Independence Party had 2 percent.

Regardless of the outcomes, neither election would have affected the DFL control of the House.
