Posted: Updated:
St. Paul, MN -

A group of activists from our area in St. Paul for a hearing today. At issue, is Silica Sand mining. It's hitting close to home here because of a proposed Jordan Sands mining operation in Lime Township. This morning, a caravan with more than 20 people headed to the capitol to make their case that not enough is known about the environmental impact and danger of such mining operations. Caroline Harrington says, "I fear for my water safety, my family's water safety and all of the people above the Jordan Sands Aquifer." Reps from Jordan Sands will also be at the Capitol to have their voice heard today. There is expected to be two weeks of testimony then lawmakers will decide what if any regulations or moratoriums will be put in place. News 12s Molly Miles is in St. Paul, she'll have a full report for you tonight on News 12 at 5 and 6.
