MANKATO, Minn. -
A weekend gun and knife show drew big crowds in Mankato, and some suspect that reflects a fear that Second Amendment rights are at risk.
The event was held at the Mankato Army National Guard training Center.
Our cameras were not allowed in, but those leaving the gun show told news 12 there was around twice as many people in attendance compared to prior shows.
Politics has been the driving force behind record–breaking numbers at firearm shows across the nation, and those in attendance say Second Amendment rights were a hot topic at Saturday's event as well.
Attendee Craig Krook said, "I don't think anybody in there is against something sensible dealing with mental illness, but to punish the law abiding gun owner because some but saw went out and did something bizarre, that's not right."
Some shoppers say they are fearful of what the future gun laws could bring.
The event also runs Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM at the National Guard Armory in Mankato.
