A new bill on the legislative docket at the state capitol is geared towards helping undecided students develop a career plan.
Under the proposal, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) would be required to implement multiple initiatives to help students without a major. The MNSCU board would be required to provide individual counseling, and would also have to outline possible academic paths with the smallest number of courses that don't count towards any given educational program.
One MSU student who used to be undecided says the legislation is a good idea.
"I was undecided coming out of high school," said Matt Engelstad. "I wasn't sure what I really wanted to do. I had a variety of interests, but I really didn't have a specific career path, so I think if something like this had been in place it definitely would have been beneficial towards me."
Under the plan, colleges would also have to provide information on job placement rates and compensation.
