Minnesota -

A bill moving through the Minnesota State Legislature would hike the state's minimum wage to over 10 dollars per hour. The proposed legislation would gradually increase the minimum wage over the course of three years. If the measure, authored by DFL representative Ryan Winkler passes, large employers would have to pay 10 dollars, 55 cents per hour starting in 2015. Small businesses would have to pay workers nine dollars an hour in 2015 a well. But one Mankato businessman says he has concerns about the plan. "When you start talking about tipped employees and the discrepancy between wages and your back-of-the-house people and your front-of-the-house people, I think it becomes a concerning point that they're going to make that discrepancy even larger." The current minimum wage in Minnesota is six dollars and 15 cents per hour. The proposal would also increase pay according to inflation calculations.
