A change to the so-called "slayers bill" has passed the Minnesota State Senate this afternoon. The House version of the bill, sponsored by State Rep. Tony Cornish (R-Good Thunder), was driven by a local murder case.

The College of Cardinals is meeting today. These are the first formal meetings to discuss when to begin the Conclave, which is the process they use to elect the next Pope. The Cardinals will also discuss the issues facing the church and what kind of man would best be able to address them. They will meet twice a day until they decide when to begin the official Conclave but that is expected to take a couple of days because not all of the cardinals who will participate have yet arrived in Rome.
