Schools across the state had snow days today causing many high school events to get canceled, including state playoff games. With Marshall being the only school holding classes today, Section 2 officials decided to postpone all of its playoff games for the day. Activities director for Mankato West Ken Essay says there always seems to be some sort of big storm in Minnesota around tournament time. Essay says, "But that's also the beauty in Minnesota is we have to take the weather as it comes and we have to take those decisions as that weather comes to us."
Essay says postponing the playoffs puts his teams on a tight timeline in qualify for state, but is necessary for both the athletes and their family's safety. Most of the games have been pushed back to tomorrow.
