MANKATO , MINN. -

A group from Elevate Church in Mankato is part of a nationwide effort by churches and volunteers to raise awareness on the subject of slavery and human trafficking.

Working with the International Justice Mission, they stood along Victory Drive for 27 straight hours... wrapping up at around 7:00 Thursday night.

Volunteer Susan Meyers says, "Just seeing the positive reaction in the community, and so many people stopped by to wonder what we're doing here standing on a freezing day and night out here so it's been just great to work with our community and help them learn more about the issue."

The volunteers also raised close to five thousand dollars for the International Justice Mission.
