Mankato -

Since Daffodils are the first flower of Spring, the American Cancer Society is using them to kick off a fundraiser in its fight against cancer.

But with the rising cost of flowers and the gas needed to deliver them, this will be the last Daffodil Days fundraiser.

ACS sponsors many programs in Blue Earth County, but organizers are sad to see this one go.

Daffodil Days chair, Laurie Oftedahl says, "The Looking Good Feeling Good, Relay for Life, Making Strides, these are projects that are always going to continue through the support of the American Cancer Society. It's kind of sad we are losing this one but anybody can go and buy daffodils in March next year and make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Organizers arranged for 100 cancer patients at MCHS and the Mankato Clinic to get Daffodils as gifts today.

Daffodil Days has been a part of the American Cancer Society for over 25 years.
