Smokes 4 Less Raided by Drug Task Force

Posted: Updated:
MANKATO, Minn. -

Agents from the River Valley Drug Task Force raid the Smokes 4 Less tobacco shop on Riverfront in Mankato late this afternoon.

Mankato Public Safety is releasing few details about the raid, citing an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Eyewitnesses told KEYC earlier tonight that several vehicles pulled alongside the establishment, and removed boxes from inside.

There are several Smokes 4 Less outlets in our area, all with the same owner, and last summer the store in New Ulm was refused a renewal on their tobacco license until they removed incense considered by new laws to be synthetic marijuana from their stores.

No details have come from the drug task force as to what they were looking for, or what was taken from Smokes 4 Less, but the Mankato Free Press reports that items resembling the banned incense were in the boxes being carried out.

When we went inside Smokes 4 Less around seven o'clock this evening, they were open, with several workers stocking merchandise, though the manager refused to comment on the incident.
