MANKATO, Minn. -

Governor Dayton includes the Verizon Wireless Center in his bonding bill, expected to be released next week.

The $750 million proposal will include the Rochester and St. Cloud civic center expansions as well, and all three cities are working in tandem to get the deal done.

Greater Mankato Growth's Jonathan Zierdt says, "We put together a joint letter of support from the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce and ourselves, stating collectively that we see value in the three civic center projects and these three regional centers."

Those we spoke to say they're cautiously optimistic. That caution comes from the fact that a 60% super majority is required to pass bonding bills, meaning two Republican Senators, and 8 Representatives will need to sign on, if the DFL all votes together.

Rochester and St. Cloud have several Republican lawmakers that could help, and there have been whispers that a little political horse-trading involving completion of a four lane Highway 14 could sway others in the New Ulm and Owatonna area.
