NEW ULM, Minn. -
New Ulm Public School's is getting closer to selecting a new superintendent.
The district has narrowed the search down to a list of six candidates to replace Harold Remme, who previously announced his intent to retire.
This upcoming Monday, the board will narrow down the list to three candidates. From there thorough interviews will take place.
New Ulm School Board chair, Duane Winter says the new superintendent will need to bring a strong element of cohesion to the district.
"We're trying to bring the achievement gap together...they're going to have to be able to get across that we need change and welcome all groups together," Winter said.
District officials say a contract offer to one of the candidates could happen as early as March 27th.
