ST. CLAIR, Minn. -

After today's hoax shooting at New Prague Middle School, St. Clair Public School went into a soft lockdown.

Superintendent Tom Bruels enacted the soft lockdown shortly after news broke of a reported school shooting.

A soft lockdown is basically business as usual, with some added security measures and student awareness.

"If there's a developing situation in our area or something that's happening at a school in our region, we consider going into a modified or soft lockdown and what that allows us to do is heighten security within the building without unduly interrupting the education process," Bruels says.

Parents were notified of the soft lockdown when it was enacted.  The soft lockdown was terminated when officials involved with the incident at New Prague confirmed it was a hoax.

The school works with the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office when dealing with crisis management.
