SAINT PETER, Minn. -
The City of Saint Peter is sending one of its trucks to Mexico in the coming months.
Officials say the rig will be donated to Petatlan, Mexico. The city's fire chief says the truck is borderline when it comes to meeting water-flow capacities. As a result, the department will be getting a new rig in about two months.
"It's always exciting in the fire hall when you're getting a new truck," said Chief Ron Quade of the St. Peter Fire Department. "But it's exciting to be able to send a unit down to Petatlan and have it be active and used, versus ending up where most of these trucks end up as lawn ornaments, or an advertisement vehicle, or a parade unit."
The city says they plan to send the truck to Mexico in approximately four months.
